Happy Father's Day to wonderful fathers!

Jonathan has been a wonderful father since day 1 starting from I got pregnant.  He witnessed me throwing up after every meal (empty stomach too) every day the first four months, and all kinds of discomforts. He has been taking good care of me and Nathan.

Assembling the stroller before Nathan was born.
The second day after Nathan was born. Jonathan pushed me on a wheel chair to the third floor every three or four hours (from sixth floor to the third took us at least 20 minutes because I couldn't stand straight and it hurt a lot when I moved). He would ask me if I finished feeding him only after 10 minutes. I knew he wanted to hold Nathan so much he got jealous that I got to feed him and hold him the entire time.

Baby Peixin and baba. I miss my father every single day.

Happy Father's Day!

ps. What do you think? Who does baby Nathan look like?

Dragon boat festival

See the Google logo today? Cute, right?  It's Dragon boat festival today!

I remember my father would take us to see  the exciting dragon boat race. If he didn't want to go out in such hot weather (dragon boat festival represents the official summer arrival, so my parents always told us to put away our winter clothes away after dragon boat festival), we would watch the race on TV.

And of course, food is the most essential element in our festivals. My mother would take us to the traditional night market, which was always hot, humid, fishy, stuffy, noisy, but full of local culture, and buy tons of foods. We would also "bai bai", which means pay honors to the gods. After that, we could start digging in! That was my favorite part! The picture below is "zongzi", rice dumpling. Jonathan and I ate some yesterday. Zongzi has a very interesting history but I'm not going to turn this blog entry into a doctoral dissertation about zongzi.

It used to be such a big big festival, but now it does't seem that way anymore. People don't care about the celebration and the race as much. It's just not as fun now.

We get a day off today, so we took Nathan to a bigger park, which is four subway stops away. It was Nathan's first subway ride.

First time eating out with Nathan!! In the middle of the meal, Nathan woke up and asking for one of us.

Nathan spit on my shirt while he was on my shoulder. That explains the stain.

Time to do some chores. Happy dragon boat festival, everyone! :)

Date time

This Saturday a very good friend of us, Jan, who actually introduced us 6 years ago, came to visit us. So 6 years ago in late summer, Jan asked me if I wanted to have dinner, which Jonathan invited him to, with him and his classmates from Chinese class and I went with my graduate school friend. Then Jonathan and I met that night. The rest is history.

Smiley Nathan and  don't-know-what-to-do Jan

We had decided to have Nathan in the nanny's so we could enjoy Saturday just the two of us. Jonathan and I started our date by going to Star Trek exhibition. We also walked around the park nearby.

Jonathan fell asleep on the bench and suddenly woke up thinking it was time to feed baby Nathan.
This is what we saw from our angle on the bench :)

So happy!

On Sunday morning we skyped with Aunt Susan, Uncle Tony and Figaro.

Baby Nathan saw Aunt Susan and Uncle Tony.

We had a great weekend. Now we have more energy to take care of baby Nathan.

Hope everyone had a great weekend as well!

Magic hands?

Baby Nathan is being fussy now because he is sleepy. I have been trying to put him to sleep for 30 minutes but no success yet. Jonathan came home 10 minutes ago. He washed him hands and put those magic hands on Nathan. And Nathan SMILED!!!

Now Jonathan is holding him so I have 5 minutes to blog.

Coming home with Nathan

Everyday at 6 I go to the nanny's excitedly to pick up Nathan.

When I have free time at work I take out the phone and look at photos of him and I will smile in a silly way.

When I pump my milk at school I also look at the photos.

Working has become more tiring now because I have to pump milk every three hours. Although its not easy, I feel happy when I come home with Nathan's meals.
